Fabric: white linen
Technique: cross stitch (hand embroidery)
A straight-cut men’s shirt. It has a stand-up collar and a front slit with a button fastening. The collar, hem and cuffs are decorated with hand embroidery.
We selected natural coarse-weave linen for this embroidered shirt model. This fabric is as close in quality as possible to homespun cloths on which shirts were embroidered in the first half of the 20th century.
The voluminous embroidery with woolen threads is done by hand. The use of woolen threads was characteristic of the western region and mountainous areas, where sheep were once bred. There is a version that in the south of Ternopil region, a breed of black sheep was once bred and their fleece was used for embroidery threads, hence the dominance of black in local ancient shirts. This color was considered a symbol of the earth, wealth and fertility.
The pattern was developed by the embroiderers of our workshop based on old shirts.
The model is wearing size L, his height is 179 cm
