“Carpathian Beasts” is a collection developed in the workshop. We created it based on the motifs of Verkhovyna shirts, where paired images of animals were used on the bosoms, protecting the owner and showing who he was.
The predator was a totemic image of warriors. According to popular belief, Cossacks-characters turned into wolves. We were inspired by the figure of the legendary Ivan Sirko, who was not taken by either a bullet or an enemy saber. For symbolism, we chose gray threads to emphasize the “wolf” ornament, and red ones – as an archetype of blood and life.
This fabric is as close in quality as possible to homespun canvases on which shirts were embroidered in the first half of the 20th century.
The voluminous embroidery with woolen threads is made by hand.
The use of woolen threads was characteristic of the western region and mountainous areas where sheep were once bred.
The model is wearing a size L, his height is 179 cm
